BP Notebooking: U.S. States and Presidents

BP Notebooking covers U.S. states and presidents in years 3 and 4, the two years that cover U.S. History side-by-side with World History. Like all BP notebooks, these can be customized for different grade levels. Click a product below for details.
George Washington

Hands-On Presidents CoverHands-On Presidents covers all 45 presidents of the United States, starting with George Washington and ending with Donald Trump. Since Year 3 ends at 1850, only the first twelve presidents technically belong in that year. The rest technically belong in Year 4. However, some parents and teachers prefer to split them evenly between the years.

This project is easy to customize for different grade levels. There are three pages per president, each more detailed than the last. Grades 2 – 4 might fill out only the first page, which covers basic facts about the president. Grades 4 – 6 might add the second page, which covers the president’s first lady and presidential home. Grades 6 – 8 might add the third page, which invites them to research and write about key events from the president’s term in office. Grades 8 – 12 might add extra copies of the third page, as many as they need for the level of detail they want.

Hands-On States CoverHands-On States covers all fifty states plus the District of Columbia in two years. The first 31 states technically belong in Year 3, starting with Delaware in 1787 and ending with California in 1850. The rest technically belong in Year 4. However, some parents and teachers prefer to split them evenly between the years.

This project is easy to customize for different grade levels. There are four pages per state, each more detailed than the last. The first page covers a few basic facts about the state. The second page adds more details, and the third page more still. The fourth page invites students to research and write a history of the state. Students can complete one, two, three or more pages, whatever fits them best.
