Julia Nalle, Ben Nalle and Teresa Jones are all returning for another year of engaging classes!
Teresa Jones will teach an Early Modern class for grades 8-12 using the BiblioPlan Companion.
Teresa Jones is an experienced online teacher— teaching classes in government and speech to high school and middle school students. She also teaches speech and critical thinking at co-ops and local libraries.
Teresa loves dynamic classrooms where students ask questions and everyone has fun learning together. She is always seeking new ways to keep learning exciting and engaging for all her students.
Before becoming a mom, Teresa was a successful broadcast journalist. She anchored one of the highest rated newscasts in the nation and appeared on CNN and CSPAN. She has a degree in Political Science from Ball State University.
Teresa homeschools her two teenage daughters with her husband, Peter. In her spare time, Teresa enjoys sewing, geocaching, and playing her ukulele.

Will students receive grades for these classes? For classes using Remember the Days, formal grades will not be assigned. Parents are free to assign grades as desired. For classes using Consider the Years/Companion, students will receive grades.
If we are taking the Elementary and Middle School classes, how does it work for more than one student in a family to take the same class? Families are welcome to take part in the Elementary and Middle school classes together using the Remember the Days books. Students may share a screen (not a Chromebook) but will be expected to do their own maps and question pages. Families would pick the age range that best suits your family and join that class together.
If we are taking the High school classes, how does it work for more than one student in a family to take the same class? Students in high school will be expected to be on their own device (not a Chromebook) and will be expected to do their own maps and question pages.
My child is in 6th. Which class should they be taking? 6th graders who want a more challenging experience should take the Middle School Adventurers class. Those who want a simpler version should take the Elementary Adventurers class.
My 2nd grade child can read and is able to fill out the Cool History Middles and Hands on Maps independently. Are they able to sign up for Zoom? We are open to 2nd graders who are able to read and work independently.
Is there a refund if we decide not to take the class? There is a grace period through the end September where you can receive a 70% refund if you choose to drop the class.
From what worldview will these classes be taught? We will be teaching from a Christian Worldview. We consider history to be a wonderful springboard to talk with students about God and what it means to be a person of Faith.
What is the issue with using a Chromebook? Unfortunately, most Chromebooks do not have a function that allows students to use the annotated tools in Zoom. Those tools are an important part of our class time. We use them to answer questions, draw on the maps, color pictures and more. They allow students to engage actively during class. Students who do not have access to the tools are left out and unable to participate.
What is Zoom Self-Paced? Zoom Self-Paced is designed for students who cannot attend live classes. It is a nice option for those living outside the United States, military families, missionaries, those who have scheduling conflicts with the live classes and those who want an added review in the week on their own schedule. Zoom self-paced classes will run about 45 minutes in length and will include the same review, videos, games and discussion questions that are part of the live classes. Zoom self-paced will be based predominately on the Remember the Days book with expanded information that is in Consider the Years/Companion and other sources. All ages will find Zoom Self-Paced to be a nice addition to their weekly history classes.
