Each weekly lesson plan, concisely covered on one page, contains the following:

History resources:   Class time reading assignments for all your children ages K-8, designed for having history  “class” three days a week and approximately 30min-1hour per day.   Separate age-appropriate resources are listed for your students grades K-4 and 5-8.  Chapters and page numbers are provided for you in an easy-to-follow format.

A literature selection for all your children grades K-2, 3+, and 5-8  that “fits” with the historical topic scheduled each week.  These books may be purchased or checked out from the library depending upon your family’s preference.  Occasional out-of-print selections have been chosen when they are a “must read”, and when possible, an in-print alternative is listed.

A family read-aloud literature selection that promotes discipleship  Scheduled approximately one book a month is a literature selection to immerse the whole family in the historical period of study.  Chosen whenever possible for their spiritual as well as literary value, these titles will encourage discussion with your children about choices that honor God and character qualities worthy of emulation.

Map suggestions pertaining to the historical topic for the week are listed on each lesson plan.  Click here to see products we recommend.

Writing ideas Each week of the lessons, BiblioPlan provides Grammar and Logic stage writing ideas to help prompt your students to write about what they have learned through their reading.  Grammar stage ideas focus on creative ways for students in grades 1-4 to retell facts, and Logic stage ideas encourage students to compare, contrast and reflect thoughtfully on what they’ve read.
